HREIB successfully finished the strategic planning meeting

Human Rights Education Institute of Burma (HREIB) organized a strategic planning meeting at Away Suansawan Centara Chiang Mai resort in Chiang Mai from 20th to 24th January 2013. Overall 28 staff members from Thailand and Myanmar attended the meeting.

The purpose of the meeting was to decide on a work schedule taking into account the current political condition of Myanmar, HREIB’s vision and objectives, and an appraisal of approach methods and strength/weakness of the organization for strategic planning of the upcoming 3 years.

In the meeting, HREIB’s executive director Aung Myo Min analysed his 3 month (second) trip to Myanmar including individual conceptual and political analyses of the current political condition of Myanmar. The programs, office administration, finance and executive committees presented their strengths, weaknesses and tasks accomplished. They drew up a work schedule and strategy for the upcoming 3 years, which were then discussed successfully.

Meeting facilitator Steve Mullins said he was satisfied with the outcomes of the meeting. HREIB’s administration committee should now finalize the task schedule for the upcoming 3 years based on the outcomes of the 5-day meeting.

HREIB’s program officer, Ms. Pan Tsun added that she was satisfied because, unlike the previous years, this year managed to map out a 3-year strategic plan as well as an overall appraisal of the whole organization.

Human Rights Education Institute of Burma (HREIB) was established in 2000 and facilitates a broad range of human rights training such as anti-child trafficking, anti-child soldier, advocacy and children, women and LGBT rights awareness training.
