Successfully conducted the Basic Human Rights Training in Pakokku

4 – 8 April 2014 (Pakokku Township, Magway Division, Myanmar)

Equality Myanmar (Yangon) has conducted a five days human rights training at Pakokku township, Magway Division, from 4 – 8 April 2014.

The training invited about 29 participants who are local social workers, farmers, students, and political party members.

The training brought many human rights topics such as definition of human rights, history of human rights, UDHR articles (30), Analysis of 2008 Constitutional chapter (8) through Human Rights standards, and national Complaint Mechanism and bodies.

The training left strong networking between local participants and Equality Myanmar’s trainers, very good cohesion and relations between participants, tangible solutions to deal local existing human rights problems, and several documents about human rights knowledge.

One participant stated that, “From this training, I came to understand the exact definition of what Accountability and Transparency is meant to be.”

Another women participants also responded on the training that, “I realize that poverty is also part of human rights violation and the important of Government’s responsibility to solve.”
