Successfully conducted the Basic Human Rights Training in Hpakant

4 – 11 April 2014 (Hpakant Township, Kachin State, Myanmar)

Equality Myanmar (Mandalay) has successfully conducted a five days human rights training at Wa Ra Zut Village, Hpakant Township, Kachin State, started from 4th – 11th April 2014.

The training took place at the local Romman Catholic Church with totally 17 participants who are political party members, farmers, and youth activists.

The training covered a lot of human rights related topics including concept of human rights, history of human rights, UDHR articles (30) and its link to current Myanmar human rights situation, Types of human rights, Development of human rights, and national complaint mechanism.

One training attendee commented that, “This training is my very first training experience in my life. And, leaning about human rights is also my first time. I am sure to be able to share to other friends and relatives about what I learn from this training.”

One participant also left the message that, “ From this training, I came to be out of fear, courageous to say what I think, and also get a lot of new friends.”
