Successfully conducted the Basic Human Rights Training in Kanpetlet
7 – 11 April 2014 (Kanpetlet Township, Chin State, Myanmar)
The second five-days Human Rights training has successfully completed by Equality Myanmar (Mandalay) at Kanpetlet Township, Chin State, from 7 – 11 April 2014.
Approximately 28 different participants, majority Chin ethnicity, from various professional such as school teachers, pastor, political party members, women rights activist, and governmental civil servants, were invited.
Those organizations included NLD Party, Chin Progressive Party, Union Theological College, Solidarities International, and Development and Environmental Watch. The objective of the training was to understand basic human rights, to strengthen networking and coordination between participants, and to spread human rights educational sharing session among participant’s community.
One of the participants concluded on the training, “I really like the way the trainers use to teach all those different kinds of human rights topics. Because, it makes us more connected and feel relaxed to discuss as well as to think freely.”
Another women participants shared her view that, “In this training, I have realized that there are numerous restriction laws, practices, and policies that contrary to international human rights standards in our country.”
