Freedom of Belief and Religion -Training of Trainer (TOT)

Equality Myanmar inaugurated “Freedom of Belief and Religion -Training of Trainer (TOT)” on March 16, 2020 at Yangon Hotel. The training will be carried on from March 16-20, 2020.

The Yangon parliament representative U Nay Bone Latt said, “I am very happy to see you all. I would like to take this opportunity to share my experience, which is related to this topic. When we talk about rights, almost everyone forgets other rights. It is not only a right violation, only when the government violated our rights, but rights violation is everywhere in our environment. I want to encourage you to study this topic well, because we have to consider and respect other rights. I want you to be sensible and responsible with this small behavior (spitting at the bus station through the car or bus, which are violating other rights).

Aung Myo Min, Director of Equality Myanmar said that “in this training, we do not invite those who are alumni of TOT, we invite those who are working on the ground. Moreover, after this FoRB TOT, the participants will conduct multiple training in their respective community with an aim to address religious conflict effectively.

During the training, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, the definition of hate speech, ways to eliminate hate speech and monitoring will be covered.

Training organizer Daw April said that the aim of this training is to provide our participants the concept and definition of freedom of religion and hate speech. Moreover, to explore Myanmar domestic law on freedom of religion, and it protects related to hate speech in the region and country, strategies could we collectively address hate speech in our country.
