A human rights awareness seminar was held on 5 April 2019, in Khayan township, Yangon and co-organized by Equality Myanmar and Human Rights Educators Network.
U Soe Thein Myint, 10 household village-tract leader said, “Such a talk has never been held in Khayan township. The talk is not just only oral presentation from one side but also dialogue discussion with all people. So, the local people are absolutely fascinated by the talk.”
During the talk, basic human rights concept, history and human rights articles, the obligation of the government and how to complain were discussed among the community.
The talk was attended by peasants and students. Total number of participant is 53.
A responsible person of the village, an organizer said, “I thought that human right was just our rights in the past. Now, I come to realize that there are definitely accountability and responsibility in the facts of human rights, I believe that the attendees will also clearly understand them.”
The purpose of the talk is to know comprehensively the basic human rights within a short time and to make sure to participate in human rights processes of Equality Myanmar.
As speakers, Sayama Daw Kyi Phyu from Equality Myanmar and Ma Su Yati from Human Rights Educators Network gave a talk.
