ICCPR Workshop on Effective Strategy Development and Cooperation
On 26th February at Esperado Lake View, Yangon, the ICCPR workshop was conducted to draw effective strategy and cooperation for the earliest ratification of the ICCPR by the Myanmar government.
Including members of ICCPR Myanmar Action Group, a total of 31 Civil Society Organizations from Karenni State, Chin State, Rakhine State, Yangon, Mandalay, Bago, Ayeyarwady, and Tanintharyi Division participated.
The workshop aims to clarify the existing misunderstanding of the ICCPR mechanism and its differences with HR Committee standards to draw effective strategy and cooperation among the working group to advocate the earliest ratification of the ICCPR by Myanmar.
The ICCPR Myanmar Action Group was formed in 2017 and now it has 43 members of organizations. This Group will continue to advocate the Government of Myanmar to ratify ICCPR as earliest as possible, and also cooperate with the Center for Civil and Political Rights to raise awareness.
