Since February 1, 2021, Myanmar’s military Junta (Min Aung Hlaing) and its alliances have attempted a military coup against the 2020 election results elected by Myanmar’s civilians. Furthermore, civil and political rights are violated by thousands of gross human rights violations, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. These coercive actions exacerbate negative outcomes for innocent people, peaceful protesters, human rights defenders, activists, and CSOs members.
Equality Myanmar consolidated the data from the reports of civil society organizations and media institutions and presented a briefing report regarding the critical state of human rights violations and civil and political rights in Myanmar.
Thus, we will submit this report to the 52nd Regular Session of the Human Rights Council, which will be held on March 6, 2023. We also provide strong and effective recommendations for effective decisions and actions to protect and defend civil and political rights in Myanmar. Please refer to the report for additional information.
