Production of “Anti Child Soldier” Music Video
On 13th November 2011, Equality Myanmar audio/visual team shot the “Pencil which is not heavier than army boots” music video in Mae Sot, Thailand.
The song tells the tragic story of children forced to serve in the military. The song was composed by 9AK and Myat Thu (Equality Myanmar), and sang by Zaw Zaw (Yangon). The purpose of producing this music video was to add support for campaigns to eliminate the use of child soldiers, and spread amongst the public the message about the consequences of using child soldiers in Burma.
Members of United ACT from Mae Sot performed as child soldiers in the video. The song was the majority choice amongst contestants during the Universal Children Day song contest on 20th November 2011, as well as being popular amongst audience members.
The song will be officially released on International Day against the Use of Child Soldiers (Red Hand Day), 12th February 2012. It will be available soon on the Democratic Voice of Burma and Equality Myanmar websites.
