From January 25 to 27, the Yangon Pride Festival took place in the commercial capital, with thousands joining in the celebrations, which included concerts, photo exhibitions, and one of the first LGBT river parades in Southeast Asia.
With activities set to continue from February 1 to 3 at the French Institute in Yangon, activist Aung Myo Min speaks to Doh Athan about what the festival means for Myanmar’s LGBT community, and discusses some of the challenges that still need to be overcome.
