Supporting Grassroots Advocacy to Strengthen Human Rights in Myanmar

EQMM is pleased to announce that the new project, “Supporting Grassroots Advocacy to Strengthen Human Rights in Myanmar” was launched in January 2020. The project is funded by the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) and it will run from January 2020 to December 2021.

The purpose of the project is to strengthen meaningful civic engagement between civil society and the Myanmar government by improving the organizational capacity and advocacy skills of three local CSOs working for human rights in Mon State, Magway Region, and Chin State. The main intervention involves tailored on-site capacity building for the local CSOs, as well as practical community mobilizing exercises, localized human rights documentation and awareness-raising, and engagement with local government officials and MPs. The project will also include three mini-advocacy projects implemented with subgrants to local CSOs in each target area.

We will provide additional updates on our work funded by UNDEF, so please continue to check our website for more information.
