JAKARTA — Indonesia and Myanmar have agreed to enhance cooperation in democracy and human rights following visit by Indonesian Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa on Dec. 28, 2011, an official said here on Friday.
“During the bilateral meeting between Indonesia and Myanmar in the Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation, some issues were discussed, including cooperation and partnership between the two countries in good governance, democracy and human rights,” said Michael Tene, spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry in a press briefing.
“Indonesia and Myanmar agreed to align closer cooperation and partnership between institutions of general election, human right as well as science,” said Tene.
He added that the ministry will facilitate the cooperation for good result.
“The main point is that Indonesia is ready to support and align partnership with Myanmar in the issues,” he said.
